This true crime account grabbed me from the first sentence and wouldn't let go. It's tragic enough that this poor wife and mother was murdered in cold blood on her own patio outside of her home near Harrisburg, Penna. But the real injustice is what was done to her husband. Police did everything they could to fit him for handcuffs and a life sentence for this unspeakable act. All the while, one sick and twisted serial killer is at work right under their noses. Too bad three other women had to suffer and one had to die because these Keystone State cops were fixated on pinning the husband with killing his wife.
This relatively short book and lightening-quick read is a bargain at twice the price. Trust me, once you start reading, you won't be able to stop. Now I know where this author gets his ideas for his novels. As a reporter, he is mired in the details of numerous crimes. He gets his facts chillingly accurate here. Highly recommended!

Yes, this book is a one-sitting read at a novella-length 22,000-words. But the violent images, the real-life crimes and the potential miscarriages of justice so skillfully depicted here will linger with you long after you finish.
Any you will finish! The narrative of the truck-driver serial killer stalking quiet suburbs close to Interstates is almost an urban legend. Yet, when this very thing was happening in parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the cops didn't take it seriously, at least at first.
Instead, authorities focused all of their efforts on putting the screws to the husband of the first murder victim. All he did was go to bed early, only to wake up to find his wife dead, his life shattered and Pennsylvania State Police crawling all over his house and tearing his apart his life.
Luciew keeps a steadfast focus on the victim's plight throughout, chronicling every Hitchcockian twist and turn in this real-life wrong-man scenario. It's this fresh and sympathetic angle, along with his critical re-examination of the bungled police investigation resulting in the attacks on at least three more women, that elevate this true tale to must-read status.
Sure, when it was over, I wanted more, too. But not every book has to be "War and Peace." Besides, Luciew, a rapidly ascending writer, has numerous full-length novels to turn to for more of his thought-provoking, compelling prose. This is one author who keeps you guessing -- and reading. And unlike so many "popcorn reads," you always feel smarter and more informed when you finish. I highly recommend this and all of his books.
