Let me start by saying that I've never written a review in my life because reviews are nothing but opinions and all opinions are subjective. But I decided to take a moment to comment on some of the reviews of A Stranger Beside You because something is bothering me. When I read the book description, I thought the story sounded intriguing, but many of the reviews were harsh, complaining almost exclusively about poor editing (spelling, grammar, etc.), so I was hesitant. But then I saw NEW REVISED AND REFORMATTED KINDLE EDITION posted at the top of the description and decided to to give it a shot. And what I discovered is THE BOOK IS PERFECT.
So, what is my point? My point is, it seems clear to me that a lot of people purchased this book before it could be revised, saved it in their Kindle libraries, and didn't get around to reading it until after the revised version was available. Is this the readers' problem? ABSOLUTELY NOT. But the thing that drives me crazy is that these negative reviews are so repetitive. They all say the same thing, but the information they are relaying is no longer accurate. This book was a lot of fun. I bought it 2 days ago and stayed up all night reading. Now I can look back at the negative reviews and just laugh, because now they just sound silly. The reason I chose to stop by and comment is because readers need to remember that the reviews on Amazon LIVE FOREVER. This means that long after problems have been addressed and corrected by the publisher, potential readers will still be exposed to reviews that no longer apply. Also, I noticed comments attached to a few of the reviews that noted that a reader had contacted the author by email and had actual been sent a revised copy of the book free of charge!
Anyway, enough ranting. I can't recommend this book highly enough, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Maybe I am too picky or too old fashioned but after reading through a quarter of this book and finding numerous errors in word use I had to put it down. Things like dose vs doze, watched vs watch etc.. They all pass spell check but definitely don't fit. The story could have been good but if the author, editor, proofreader, publisher do not want to take the time to critically read the text themselves why should I?
